Learning
A séjour in France offers each visiting pupil a unique opportunity to fully immerse themselves in a new culture. We work closely with our partner school to create a bespoke curriculum that is enhanced by a stimulating programme of sorties to nearby villages, markets, and culturally significant sites. These trips not only facilitate authentic interactions with locals but also contribute significantly to the development of the children’s confidence and cultural understanding.

Curriculum - Extended Visits
Teaching and learning are of the utmost importance, and the children inevitably make enormous progress in French throughout their stay. The curriculum at Downe House Sauveterre is skills based and enriched by the fabulous learning opportunities we have on our doorstep. As well as traditional subjects of French Language, Maths, Science, Geography, History and Art, Photography, Sustainability, and dedicated French Culture lessons, along with a rich selection of Sporting opportunities also feature on our curriculum.

Curriculum - Short Visits
We work with our partner schools to create bespoke curriculums for their stay. Examples of which can include sustainability weeks, French / Spanish language weeks, or cultural and teambuilding visits.

Sorties
Alongside the curriculum, the stay at Downe House Sauveterre engages the children in an exciting programme of ‘sorties’ to nearby villages, markets, local landmarks, and historical and cultural places of interest. The programme of sorties is carefully linked to the content of lessons to ensure that the children are able to make the most of the visit, both culturally and linguistically.
