About Downe House Sauveterre
Château de Sauveterre, located in the beautiful Southwest of France, transitioned from a private residence to a school in 1990. Since then, its primary focus has been on fostering language proficiency in French and immersing pupils in the vibrant tapestry of French culture. While updates have been made to accommodate modern living, the château still retains its original charm, with many original furnishings, artwork and a well-established park.
The glorious setting serves as an integral part of the learning experience and environment, where pupils can simultaneously engage with nature and their studies.
From the moment you arrive, you are struck by the warm and inviting atmosphere that surrounds the château. Former pupils often reflect on their séjour as a time of growth and discovery where they were encouraged to thrive both academically and personally, but also as a time of immense joy and happiness that has stayed with them for many years.
